3/1 to 3/31 ST. NICHOLAS PROJECT UPDATE
Pippa, Project Manager, continues to coordinate the final deliveries of gifts and essentials from many organizations in Austria and Germany to the displaced orphanages in our network, both in Austria and Ukraine. On 2/28, gifts raised by Kleine Herzen were picked up by VM4U in Vienna and were delivered to Save Ukraine on 3/5. No VM4U donations are used to buy gifts; VM4U donations are used for diesel and delivery costs. This completes the 2024 St. Nicholas Project.
3/1 to 3/31 TACMED UKRAINE DIESEL SUPPORT PROJECT UPDATE
In February, TacMed Ukraine transported 419 patients using 6 ambulances and 1 bus. No VM4U donations were used. The Tullman Family Office, with 501c3 support from Elevate Ukraine, continues their support of diesel for TacMed Ukraine ambulances through April 2025. VM4U performs third-part donation verification using a system of real-time reporting and fuel card accounting.
3/1 to 3/31 MUSIC PROGRAM UPDATE
Nadiia, Music Program Manager and Instructor, continues to return refugee children to their music training. The program has 4 instructors for 9 children, thanks to volunteer instructors Joel (Saxophone), Emin (Piano), Nadiia (Elementary music), and Rosa (Guitar). We bid Instructor Emin a thankful farewell as he is moving abroad and welcome Anna who will continue the piano instruction for Emin’s students. The music program is a partnership with Kimu Wien (@kimu_wien) and Domivka. VM4U donations are used for instrument maintenance, instrument rental, and instruction materials.
3/1 to 3/31 VAN PROGRAM UPDATE
Nathan, Van Program Manager, continues to utilize the VM4U van to circulate donations, relocate refugees, support partner volunteer organizations, and deliver donated furniture in Vienna as well as deliver medical supplies and other aid to Ukraine. The van was repaired from 3/24-3/26. VM4U donations are used for fuel and maintenance.
3/2 to 3/6 VAN MISSION – KLEINE HERZEN, PC FUER ALLE, AND INSULIN FOR LIFE SUPPORT – LVIV
Nathan and Sophie used the VM4U van to deliver 20 laptop computers raised by PCs Fuer Alle to a school near Lviv, nearly a ton of children’s toys raised by Kleine Herzen to Save Ukraine, and Oleg’s diabetics supplies raised through Insulin for Life to a Nephrology Hospital in Lviv. On the way, the van stopped at the Hope Shelter at Przemysl, Poland. VM4U donations were used for diesel, tolls, driver accommodation, and shipping costs.
3/2, 3/7, 3/10, 3/20, 3/21 FURNISHINGS PROGRAM UPDATE
Nathan, Furnishings Program Manager, continues to work with Olga, The Feel Good Store, to transfer furniture and appliances directly from donors to refugees on a regular basis using the VM4U van and Nathan’s van. The furnishings team, better known as the VM4U Crew, includes Pasha, Artem, Arkady, Anatolii, Jake, Jesse, Coach Oleksandr, Amir, and others. VM4U donations are used for van fuel.
3/3 NEW VM4U EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Nathan Klein becomes the new VM4U Executive Director, confirmed by the VM4U Board, following Adam’s departure from Vienna. Adam, former VM4U Executive Director, shifts roles to Donor Relations Manager and Accountant.
3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31 FOOTBALL PROGRAM TRAINING UPDATE
Coach Oleksandr, Football Program Manager, and Coach Sergii continue to host football training for children ages 6-11 on Monday nights from 17:30-19:00 in cooperation with Domivka. During winter, the training occurs at an indoor facility which is free of charge.
3/4 to 3/31 GREEN CROSS MEDEVAC SUPPORT PROJECT
On 3/5, Ken procured 5 ventilators for Green Cross MedEvacs (GXM), paid for by GXM donors, which were received on 3/7. On 3/31, Ken departed from Vienna by bus to deliver the ventilators to Flo in Kyiv. The ventilators arrived in Donbas on 4/3. No VM4U donations were used.
3/11 MARIA SUPPORT CASE
Felix translated for Maria at a doctor’s appointment. No VM4U donations were used.
3/14 to 3/18 MISSION – KIWANIS SUPPORT – SUMY
Erich and his team at Kiwanis raised two ambulances and a fire truck. Sophie, VM4U volunteer, joined Erich to deliver one ambulance to Okhtyrka, Ukraine and the other ambulance and fire truck to Sumy, Ukraine. No VM4U donations were used.
3/16 VAN MISSION – REFUGEE RELOCATION SUPPORT CASE
Oleksii and Anatolii helped a family move to a new apartment using the VM4U van. The family paid for the diesel.
3/20 VAN MISSION – MATUSYA SUPPORT
Nathan delivered baby supplies raised from the VM4U amazon gift registry to Matusya using his personal vehicle. Nathan donated the diesel costs.
3/20 GREEN CROSS MEDEVAC DIESEL SUPPORT PROJECT INITIATED
The Tullman Family Office, with 501c3 support from Elevate Ukraine, committed to supporting diesel for Green Cross Medevac ambulances through June 2025. VM4U performs third-part donation verification using a system of real-time reporting and fuel card accounting. No VM4U donations were used.
3/24, 3/26 VAN MISSION – BRATISLAVA
Nathan drove and returned the VM4U van to the repair shop in Bratislava. VM4U donations were used to pay for van maintenance and diesel.
3/30 to 4/3 VAN MISSION – HELA FLANKO SUPPORT – IVANO FRANKIVSK, KYIV
Fred, VM4U volunteer using the VM4U van, joined Flo, Lusia, and Ryan, Hela Flanko, to deliver medical aid raised by Hela Flanko to volunteer centers near Kolomyia and Kyiv, Ukraine. VM4U donations were used for van fuel, tolls, and driver accommodation.
3/31 MISSION – GREEN CROSS MEDEVAC SUPPORT – KYIV
Ken, VM4U volunteer, travelled by bus from Vienna to Kyiv to deliver 5 ventilators raised by Green Cross Medevac to Flo in Kyiv. No VM4U donations were used.
